| Editorial Reviews:
From Amazon.com Perhaps the perfect children's bedtime book, Goodnight Moon is a short poem of goodnight wishes from a young rabbit preparing for--or attempting to postpone--his own slumber. He says goodnight to every object in sight and within earshot, including the "quiet old lady whispering hush." Clement Hurd's illustrations are simple and effective, alternating between small ink drawings and wide, brightly colored views of the little rabbit's room. Finding all of the items mentioned throughout the book within the pictures is a good bedtime activity--a reappearing little mouse is particularly pesky. By the end of the little rabbit's goodnight poem, the story has quieted to a whisper, and the drawings have darkened with nightfall. As you turn the last page, you can expect a sleepy smile and at least a yawn or two. (Picture book)

| Customer Reviews: Second generation March 15, 2010 A. R. Hoyle (Montferrer, France) I read this book to my younger son from the age of several months until he was able to read it for himself when he reached the age of about 4 years. This was way back in 1972! He is now reading from his original copy to his young daughter - I think this is worth my 5 star recommendation. In the interim, we occasionally browsed the pages of "Goodnight Moon", finding pleasure in it every time.
I grew up with this book, but give it to people who haven't. January 31, 2010 M. E. Quinn (Ottawa, ON CA) I loved this book as a kid. I don't remember it being read to me, but I read it to my younger sister as it's a good book for young readers as well. Now that my friends are having kids, I've rediscovered how good this book is. I'm from the states and most people I know in Ottawa didn't grow up with the book, but after some initial skepticism with an unknown and OLD book, they come to love it as a bedtime book. The rhythm is lovely and soothing and kids always love looking for the mouse! It's also fun enough that I smile everytime I read "Goodnight nobody" to this day.
Great Children's book September 25, 2009 A. Blanchard (Toronto, Canada) "Goodnight Moon" is a wonderful book to read to young children. The repeating phrase encourages them to join in. The text and illustrations are simple and classic.
One of the best baby books ever July 4, 2009 La Sagesse (Toronto ON Canada) I received this book as a baby gift 24 years ago from another mom. Read it aloud to my son countless times. Buy the hardcover... the paperback will wear out. The cadence of the words is magical and the illustrations are fascinating. There's a secret, which my son discovered all by himself. This book and 'Where's Spot?' have been my standard 'baby gift' for years.
I gave it a 2nd try and now we like it! December 30, 2008 Lu (Vancouver, BC, Canada) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I received Goodnight Moon as a gift and didn't realize it was a "recommended" book. I read through it and was very unimpressed. After I found out it was "recommended" I decided to give it a try and started reading it to my son last month - he was 4 months old then. To my surprise he seems totally engrossed by the book. I even found myself enjoying the book - there is something quite charming about the words when read aloud slowly and deliberately for my son. The quaint drawings which remind me of a time long past. After reading the book we say goodnight to our own room.
Sure some passages don't make sense - the "old lady whispering hush" is a rabbit! (That's why I am not rating it 5 stars) But I still look forward to many many nights of reading this with my son and looking at the pictures to see what other surprises we might find together in the book.
