From Amazon.com
Bellydance! Magical Motion is a well-balanced introduction to this ancient and alluring art form. What makes this video different is that it adds a new dimension by emphasizing the exercise potential of the dance every bit as much as the artistry. And they're right: the motions taught here are definitely an excellent way to keep the body in shape. This is not, however, simply a workout tape; it is an instructional dance video that provides a solid foundation in all of the basic motions and steps. You could take what you learned from this production and put together either a workout or a dance routine, and it has the nice bonus of guiding you to the right music, costuming, and finger-cymbal work. All in all, Bellydance! Magical Motion is an excellent resource for the budding enthusiast. --Brendan J. LaSalle

5 out of 5 stars Great For Beginners!   May 22, 2004
Katherine Pfeiffer
This was one of the first belly dance videos that I bought. I still love it (even after two years of serious study). I now recommend it to anyone who wants to begin bellydance! Atea's choice of dancers and costumes; her clear instructions; the repetition of each move so that you can follow along (dance with her - as if you were at a lesson) are all excellent. The quality of everything -lighting, sound, music, introductory material - are all high. This is an inspirational as well as practical video.

4 out of 5 stars It's okay...   March 13, 2004
Yes, she's a bit stiff, but it's easy to follow if you are a beginner. You'll be beyond this tape before long, but you can follow the basic moves easily. Once you have that you can add your own pazazz. And it's pretty.

1 out of 5 stars It's a shame there are not 0 stars on ratings   February 4, 2004
Reasons not to buy this video:
1. She reads from cue cards the entire time.
2. She's extremely stiff and boring.

I have only watched this video once in the two years that I have owned it.

4 out of 5 stars See a Clip   January 26, 2004
Alyssa Morhardt (New York, NY)
I was thinking of puchasing this video when I came accross this web site with clips from the video on it!

I'm going to buy it just for the fabulous explination of the belly roll.

1 out of 5 stars These videos are horrible!   November 24, 2003
Gertrude Ezell (Wasilla, AK USA)
I'm sorry, but these are horrible for teaching belly dance. Atea is very stiff & stilted & her chorus dancers CANNOT dance! It is absolutely Scary!
I have never seen anyone (in person or in a video) dance the way that they do in this video. If you are interested in learning to dance, please, choose another instructor!
