Lucky to Have This Video Still around. November 6, 2005 Unfortuneately these "collectors" would not be complaining if they only new half of when ,why and where this movie was produced and released.........it was NEVER supposed to be released as The Sound of Music was being released in the same week. Also Florence Hendersons 1st ever singing review. Rhis movie ONLY a collector...for real collect buffs, its never been graded or even edited. Be happy with this original that you have as there are soooo many copies of that out there and even then they are VERY few and far between......... For us OLD folks these types of movies are all we have left of our good memories...... Please dont spoil it for others..... Respectfully Submitted.
More than a big disappointment June 21, 2004 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
1. Since when do we need 2 tapes for a 2-hour performance? 2. Since when is a performance "broken" in the middle of a word on tape 1, continued on a second tape for about 1 minute, and then have the prescribed Intermission (actually part of the original film)? 3. Since when is a product sold that was obviously copied from an original that was old and worn out? The sound track is terrible (I do have new TV and VHS/DVD equipment). 4. You may have noticed I did not mention the script for the movie. It is insipid. It doesn't even cover some of Grieg's best music. 5. This is for you only if you believe that young men and women (and sometimes, children) in native costume dance behind horse-drawn carts traveling the same winding mountain roads. Was this meant as a travelogue? It wouldn't even pass muster as that. 6. Have been collecting and showing opera, ballet, old movies, old movie musicals for years and years both on VHS and DVD. This is the worst I've come across in almost 10 years of collecting.
Oh My Gosh December 16, 2003 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you are after cutsie acting and nice scenery, this is the film for you. If you love the music of Grieg, however, don't get within earshot. You have been warned.
