From Amazon.com Spider-Man takes on Dr. Octopus, the Kingpin, and the Green Goblin, and takes us on a flashback trip to his origins for good measure, in this four-episode arc from the third season of the 1990s animated series. These web-slinging moral tales have none of Batman's sleek style, and the breathless pacing doesn't quite make up for the awkward animation and pedestrian writing, but the episodes are bright, busy, and action packed. --Sean Axmaker
Additional Features The real treat of this DVD lies in the supplements, especially The Origins of Spiderman from the original 1967 series, which spices a limited animation style with a great theme song, trippy graphics, a jazzy score, and dark colors that recall the deep inks from an old comic book page. Also check out the "Rogues Dossier," an interactive guide to Spidey's villains with statistics, trivia, and video clips, and video interviews with Spiderman creator Stan "the Man" Lee. --Sean Axmaker

DVD's damn cool! July 8, 2003 This DVD is really sweet for Spider-fans! It has four episodes from the third season of SpiderMan. The bonus materials are a 1967 ep of the old series(REALLY funny), a rogues galleries profile, and a speech by Stan Lee. The Four eps star a two-parter with Spider-Man's biggest fan and Doc Ock, The Green Goblin, and The Rocket Racer. It's great
SWEET MOVIE! December 18, 2002 THIS ANIMATED SPIDEY DVD IS EXCELLENT! IT IS JAM PACKED. WHEN I HAD FIRST GOT IT I THOUGHT IT WOULDNT THAT THRILLING. BUT I WAS WRONG!I USED TO LOVE THE OLD SPIDEY SERIES,BUT THEN THEY WENT AND CANCELLED IT!NOW I GOT THE DVD.THERE IS A TOTAL OF 5 EPISODES PLUS AN OPTIONAL COMMENTARY BY STAN "THE MAN" LEE! GREAT DVD, 5 STARS!
Not the Ultimate Collection November 30, 2002 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Yikes! What have they done with modern Spidey cartoons? The four "modern" animated Spidey eps on this disc are terrible. They are paced so quickly that my head spun when watching it. The stories are not so bad but they try to squeeze so much into them that it is pure sensory overload. Slow it down guys and tell the story with confidence, not speed. This contrast is most evident when viewing the original Spidey cartoon from the 1960's, which, while technically inferior in animation, had so much more character, a better theme song, interesting angles and perspectives and those great deep ink colors reminiscent of a real comic book. I'd buy all of the original Spidey cartoons from the 60's on DVD but not this 90's stuff. Bring back the classic Spidey cartoons!
SPIDER MAN THE ULTIMATE VILLAIN SHOWDOWN August 5, 2002 This was the new episode of spider-man. Man this was a good episode, it was funny too. There's 3 very wonderful episodes. The villains are Doctor Octopus,Kingpin,Green Goblin and Rocket RacerThe episodes are called The Attack of the Octobot,Enter the Green Goblin and Rocket Racer. This were the best spider-man episodes ever and suitable for all...
Not exactly "The Ultimate Villian Showdown" but August 1, 2002 Your friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man fan (Dixon, CA United States) First of all, I feel the title "Ultimate Villian Showdown" is about as crazy as a soup sandwhich. Thank heaven part of the 90's 'Spider-Man' cartoon has finally gotten into the next millenium's technology: DVD format. Now, this DVD has a good amount of Web-Slinging fun: "Stan's Soapbox" a featurette where Stan Lee talks about Spider-Man's evolution over the years. For those of you who were actually around to see first ever Spider-Man cartoon episode of the 60's, that's sure to make your several decade old spider sense tingle with nestalgia by seeing it again, or is it just me? An interactive Villian finding game is an added bonus if you need to catch up on your villian savvy noodle. Also has clips from other episodes with the specific villain too! I'd say there was pretty exceptional work on the professional layout of the menus of the 90s cartoons, chapter to chapter. Overall, Spidey fans will not be disapointed. Definitely something you want your webbing to connect with.
